Take Control

Do more than what is expected of you. People will appreciate you going the extra mile and will remember the additional service you provided.

Don’t let someone else stop you from achieving your dream. You are capable of doing anything you set your mind to.

You won’t get any “yes” answers unless you ask. The more people you ask, the more likely you will get a yes. Say “next” every time you get a “no”.

The little that lasts

A little that lasts is better than much that brings grief.

The Art of Giving

Living a life of meaning and unstoppability always involves giving. Many of the classic religious and secular texts throughout history contain some variation on “Give, and it will be given to you.” Think about that for a moment. Isn’t it true that the people with the most love in their lives give the most love? The people with the most friends are the most friendly?

Of Giving

What you give doesn’t have to be big. It might be a smile to a stranger, an offer of business advice, a financial donation to a cause you’ve wanted to help, or a few volunteer hours at a community shelter. By sharing your talents, time or money, you will become invigorated about your goal and your life because you will be making a difference in the lives of others.

Consider making a daily habit of giving to others. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time and energy. By opening your eyes and heart, you will notice countless ways you can simply reach out to others. There is nothing more fulfilling in life than expressing your love for others. When you create a habit of giving, you are the greatest recipient

If you want to be a leader who attracts quality people, the key is to become a person of quality yourself. Leadership is the ability to attract someone to the gifts, skills, and opportunities you offer as an owner, as a manager, as a parent. What’s important in leadership is refining your skills. All great leaders keep working on themselves until they become effective. Here are some specifics:

Learn to be strong but not impolite. It is an extra step you must take to become a powerful, capable leader with a wide range of reach. Some people mistake rudeness for strength. It’s not even a good substitute.

Next, learn to be kind but not weak. We must not mistake weakness for kindness. Kindness isn’t weak. Kindness is a certain type of strength. We must be kind enough to tell someone the truth. We must be kind enough and considerate enough to lay it on the line. We must be kind enough to tell it like it is and not deal in delusion.

Hobbies and Attitudes

Why not take the same positive interested attitude you have toward your hobbies and transfer your passion to your ability to sell yourself, your ideas, or the end results of your hobby?

Instead of turning your selling job into a hobby, why not take the hobby you love so much and figure out how to market it or yourself? I’m not saying this change will make you a millionaire, but money isn’t the only measure of success. If you could support yourself comfortably on the earnings from your hobby, I would deem you as having a successful life.

Think about it! You already have the built-in enthusiasm, excitement and knowledge of your hobby. Now all you need to do is show others why they need to feel the same way. If you do a little research, you’ll find that many successful businesspeople started out by selling their hobbies. Determine what you love to do, and then figure out a way to get paid for it. What could be better?

The caterpillar one day says, “I think I was made for more than this crawling on the ground.” So the caterpillar climbs the tree, attaches himself to a leaf and spins the cocoon. Who knows what disciplined effort it takes to spin a cocoon. But something inside the caterpillar says, “I was designed for something more than being just a caterpillar.”

And then when the cocoon is ready and it opens up, out comes a butterfly that flies away, maybe singing, “I believe I can fly! I believe I can touch the sky! I used to be a caterpillar on the ground, now I fly.”

I’m asking you to go through such a metamorphosis. I’m asking you often to go through a period where you say, “New skills, new things are waiting for me,” and part of this will come if you’ll translate for other people what you feel in your heart and in your soul.

A President may promise to create jobs, but the only person who is going to create YOUR job is you! You determine whether or not you have a job. The President doesn’t, the economy doesn’t, and the industry doesn’t. No matter how bad things get, there are always those who have good paying jobs. You choose what kind of person you will be, and how valuable you will make yourself to the marketplace and thus, what kind of job you will have. So, no matter what the job situation is nationally, you can have any job you want in the next four years. You don’t have to wait for anyone.

The fact is that you control your life. You control your destiny. You chart your course. Those we elect are not the givers of our financial lives. I sometimes think that many people think that if we can just get the “right” person elected, then their lives will suddenly take a turn for the better. Not true. You determine the outcome of your life

Indecision is the thief of opportunity.

You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction overnight.

I used to say, “I sure hope things will change.” Then I learned that the only way things are going to change for me is when I change.

It doesn’t matter which side of the fence you get off on sometimes. What matters most is getting off! You cannot make progress without making decisions.

If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.

Of Asking God (Allah)

Asking is the beginning of receiving. Make sure you don’t go to the ocean with a teaspoon. At least take a bucket so the kids won’t laugh at you.”—Jim Rohn
